Execution Configurations

The Scanner component can be used as a standalone tool, or it can be used in conjunction with the  Black Box Execution Platform(BBEP) component.  When enabled, the BBEP takes alerts (one symbol or a batch of stocks)  from any user-configured module of the Scanner and handles the trade from entry - through exit.

Stormtracker V4.0 handles the implementation/execution of your trading system - It incorporates your trading system into the architecture of a Black Box (Hands Free) system so you can

  • implement and Automate part or all of your trading strategy through Stormtracker
  • implement your system, without worrying about learning a programming language
  • get up and running with a Customized Black Box Trading solution in Hours, not weeks

Multiple Black Box Trading Systems can be configured from Start-To-Finish through  one interface window

How do you Create Black Box Trading Systems using Stormtracker? Follow these steps in the Configure Modules Window

  • In the Conditions Tab, Enter the Trading System Long and Short Criteria for Entry (and Exit Criteria if necessary)
    • Details on how to do this are in Scanner Configuration Sections
  • Configure the Execution Configuration(EC)
    • Details on how to do this are shown Below

Definitions

  • Black Box Mode - (Positions in Auto Status) - If a symbol is entered Automatically through an alert from one of the Modules, then it's in Auto Mode - meaning that Entries/Exits are being controlled by Stormtracker
  • Grey Box Mode  - (Positions in Manual Status) - If a position  is entered (through Interactive Brokers, for example) and the user does not wish the symbol to be controlled by Stormtracker then leave the position in Manual Mode and it will be ignored by Stormtracker, other than to show it as a valid position.
  • In the Main Stormtracker Window, the Manual Positions(Grey Box) are shown in  the left grid, the Auto Positions(Black Box) are shown in the right grid
  • LmtPersist Strategy
    • When Canceling a LmtPersist order
      • It must be done through Stormtracker - if you cancel it through the Broker Platform (ie Interactive Brokers) it will resubmit the order per the definition of LmtPersist
      • Only Auto Positions can use the LmtPersist Order -  When an Auto Position using the LmtPersist Order is cancelled MANUALLY(through the Stormtracker Cancel Order window), the mode of the position is automatically switched from AUTO(Black Box) to MANUAL(Grey Box).  This switch is made because when an Auto Position is cancelled through Stomtracker it's assumed that the User wants Manual control over the position from that point.

Execution Platform Configuration

There are 3 possible settings for the Execution Platform

  • Demo
    • When this is the setting , there is an option to "Block Executions" or "Fill Executions" - Change this setting to "Currently Filling Executions" to view the Demo mode
  • OEM Live
    • This is a LIVE connection to your account.

You can modify this setting by going to the Execution Platform Window and choosing the Tools Menu Item.  After Symbols have been loaded, the OEM Configuration Menu item is available.  From there you can change the settings as described

Important Note for Interactive Broker userss, who use the Black Box Execution Platform:
If you login to your  Interactive Broker’s account as edemo/demouser(their delayed feed), then in stormtracker put in ‘edemo’ as the user and a blank password(in the OEM Configuration window).  This will send market/smart orders for all orders, in order to better demonstrate the Black Box functionality.  If you login to Interactive Brokers using your LIVE account, then you must remove ‘edemo’ from the OEM Configuration window(leave it blank, and password blank), otherwise Market orders will always be sent to the LIVE account.
